SIENA
AND CORTONA
After visiting and spending a couple of hours
in the beautiful typical city of Cortona,
you’ll eat in Siena, considered “a
pearl of Tuscany” for its still existing
medieval structure and for its art and architectural
treasures. Here you can visit Piazza del Campo,
where in July and August the famous bareback
horses competition (called Palio) takes place,
the Municipal Palace and its Torre del Mangia
(a beautiful bell tower), San Domenico church,
the Dome and the characteristic alley ways
and little streets of the center.
CHIANTI TOUR
The Chianti area is famous for its well-known
wines and for its breathtaking landscape.
Here you can enjoy the best of Chianti’s
Hills with its vineyards, olive groves,
woods, romantic churches, castles, villas,
taverns and typic inns.
PISA AND LUCCA
The most famous of PISA's many landmarks
is the marble Leaning Tower located in the
Piazza dei Miracoli, the famous square which
also embraces the Cathedral, the Baptistery
and the Monumental Churchyard. You will
also visit the fabulous palaces, the bridges
and the towers on the streets running along
the river Arno (the so-called Lungarni).
Located on the bank of the Arno River, you
will see the small church of Santa Maria
della Spina, the finest example of Gothic
fancy in Pisa.
The excursion continues with the visit to
LUCCA, one of the most elegant towns in
Tuscany, enclosed by its ancient and still
intact walls. Here you will visit the Dome
and from the famous Piazza dell’Anfiteatro,
where houses were built on the foundations
of the Roman amphitheatre, you can reach
the Torre Guinigi. The 14th century palace
is known for its tower with Ilex trees growing
on its top from where, after climbing 230
steps, you can enjoy a marvellous view of
the town.
FLORENCE
You'll quickly appreciate why Florence is
one of the most beautiful and popular cities
in Europe, with its Dome by Brunelleschi,
the Bell tower by Giotto and the Baptistery.
The sightseeing tour continues through Piazza
della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio-
the “Jewelers’ bridge”
(whose name clearly indicates this is the
oldest bridge in town several times reconstructed
) and finally the church of Santa Croce.
In the afternnon you will have some free
time for shopping or leisure activities.
